City of Gresham Senior Healthy Hikers, Orenco and Noble Woods Hike: Wed, Apr 19, 2017 9AM-5PM
|
Let's Go Walking!
When: Wed, Apr 19, 2017 9AM-5PM |
- Round-trip travel: 61 miles
- Difficulty: Easy/Moderate
- Elevation gain: 190 feet
- Suggested donation per hiker: $7
This 4.5-mile hike begins at the beautiful, new $4M-dollar Orenco Woods Nature Park. It features a network of gravel, chip, and paved trails that border wetlands, an oak savannah and a hardwood forest. As we cross five bridges, look for red-tailed hawks, great blue herons, and black-tailed deer. Check out the historic MacDonald house and then climb into a giant green apple (a sculpture reminder that this land once produced apples used for fine desserts and ciders). From this park, we will hike south to Noble Woods to explore a loop trail that crosses over gurgling Rock Creek and then goes through Douglas fir, big leaf maple, ocean spray, hazel, oaks, large cherry, and sword fern. Along the way, look for crawfish and beaver activity.
Wear hiking boots and bring water and snacks. Following this hike, we will have lunch at the nearby Copper River Restaurant.

Pets are not permitted on our hikes or walks.
