Middle school and high school youth can attend free basketball practice, skill building and game play on Friday nights at H.B. Lee Middle School, 1121 NE 172nd Ave.

• Open to boys and girls in grades 6-12
• Learn new skills, make new friends, play basketball.
• Adult supervision and mentorship provided by the Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center (POIC).
• Sponsored by the City of Gresham.

Schedule

• 6-8 p.m. for grades 6-8
• 8-10 p.m. for grades 9-12

See the Night Sky When: Fri, Jan 12, 2018 6PM-8:15PM Where: Mt. Hood Community College Planetarium 26000 SE Stark St. Get Map!

There are two shows at this evening's show, with start times at at 6:00 pm and 7:15 pm.

This show will be presented in the Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) Planetarium Sky Theater, located beneath the library on the Gresham campus, 26000 SE Stark St. All shows are presented under a realistic representation of the night sky, featuring the latest galactic, stellar and planetary images.

The Sky Theater is wheelchair accessible.

Admission fees:

• General public $5
• MHCC students $2 with valid ID
• Children 17 and under $2

Let's Kick Ball! When: Sun, Jan 14, 2018 5PM-7PM Where: Friends of the Children 424 NE 172nd Ave. Get Map!

Free drop-in futsal games for boys and girls in grades 3-6 will take place from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sundays in the Friends of the Children gym. Rain or shine.

Supervised play is provided by Active Children Portland volunteers. This activity is sponsored by the City of Gresham.

A signed waiver is required to participate.

On this day of giving, join friends and family to plant native plants, remove invasive ivy and generally tidy up the garden. Tools, gloves and refreshments will be provided.

Please bring a water bottle, long pants, closed toed-shoes and dress for the weather.

Parking is available at St. Aidan's Episcopal Church adjacent to the park, or at the back entrance on NE Pacific Street and 176th. Follow the path through the forest to get to the picnic area from this location.

GRDC meetings allow necessary Rockwood-West Gresham Urban Renewal business to be dealt with, such as budget adoption, grant awards, GRDC property-related matters, public hearings, resolutions, etc.

The Community Enhancement Advisory Committee oversees Greshams share of funds reserved for community enhancement projects through Metro's community enhancement grants. In this first meeting, the committee will establish the grant area boundary and develop the grant selection criteria and process.

The Design Commission is the primary advising subcommittee to the City Council on design excellence for the built environment of the city. The Commission assists in the development and application of design standards and guidelines, and will conduct hearings as necessary to ensure that proposed public and private projects achieve these standards.
