I. Call to order

• Brian Heerwagen called to order the annual meeting of the Wilkes neighborhoods Association meeting at 7:05 pm on Monday, August 27 at St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church, 17405 NE Glisan Street, Portland, Oregon.
  

Beware: Door-to-Door Home Alarm sales

Wilkes East resident Wayne Palmiter reported Aug 7th, 2007 a woman was in the Capri Terrace neighborhood canvassing for possible Alarm sites. The women claimed to be a representative of Honeywell Alarm Systems Division. When contacted Honeywell said "they do not do business in the way the woman described."

The Coalition of Gresham Neighborhood Associations next meeting will be Wednesday, September 12th, 7:00PM in the Springwater Trail Room, Gresham City Hall, 1333 NW Eastman Parkway, Gresham, OR 97030.

The August 8th Coalition of Gresham Neighborhood Associations meeting focused on gathering Neighborhood Association’s input for the new budget cycle. Nikki Peterson, Budget Division Manager explored ideas with the group on ways to increase citizen participation and input. If you'd like a speaker for your group on this subject you may contact Ms Peterson at City Hall (503) 618-2428.

Local Artist Lee Dayfield Honored

The City of Gresham's Tenth Annual Juried Exhibit held June 5 - July 19, 2007 featured the works of fifty-three local artists.

Wilkes East resident and photographic artist Lee Dayfield won The Mayor's 1st Place Choice, the Art Committee's 2nd Place Choice, and the People's 3rd Place Choice for her photograph title "Tidy Town"

On July 14, 2007, residents of Wilkes East came together to tidy up their homes. The three hour event resulted in two industrial sized (40 cubic yard) dumpsters being filled to capacity!

Gresham Mayor Shane Bemis has continued his pledge to get into the neighborhoods, meet the people, and share ideas for making Gresham a better place to live.
