Walking To End Hunger When: Sun, Sep 23, 2012 2PM-3:30PM Where: 8th & Norman Gresham, OR Get Map!

This is a fund raiser walk that benefits Zarephath's Pantry and Kitchen locally as well as other food agencies around the world. This year, we hope to involve more Gresham churches and expect 70-80 walkers. The route will loop through downtown Gresham and back to the starting point.

The event begins with registration at 1:00PM at Gresham UMC (8th and Norman). The Walk will start at 2:00PM and it is anticipated the last walkers will finish by 3:30PM at the latest.

Come and see the amazing return of Vaux’s Swifts as they gather at various sites in the Portland area during the month of September on their Fall migration south. Each evening tens of thousands seek a communal roost site in the Portland / Vancouver area (as well as north and south of here. Chapman School in NW Portland being the most well-known).

The MHCC Aquatic Center Dive-In movies make a return to the big screen this summer. At sunset, around 7:15 p.m., families and friends are welcome to spend time floating, splashing and swimming in the College’s 50-meter Olympic size pool. Film classics will be played on the electric scoreboard for viewers of all ages.

Prices are $4.50/adults, $3.25/children 18 and younger and seniors. MHCC students, staff and pool members’ admission is free with current ID or punch card. There is no extra charge to see the movie. Don’t forget your flotation toys.

The Other Sides of Tabor When: Thu Aug 9, 2012 6PM-7:30PM Meet at: Clinton Park SE 56th & Woodward Portland, OR Get Map!

Enjoy a walk through the South Tabor neighborhood and the streets and trails along the east side of Mt Tabor, with a nice combination of flat, uphill and downhill walking. Distance: 3.5 miles, 7000 steps. Time: 90 minutes.

Join us on another great Ten Toe Express walk throughout inner-city Portland sponsored by the Portland Bureau of Transportation. The Ten Toe Express program is a series of guided walks held Thursdays at 6PM and Saturdays at 9AM from May 10th through September 13th. Download your 2012 Ten Toe Express schedule here.

Each easy and informal Ten Toe Express walk explores the area neighborhood, architecture and unique history. Walk takes about 2 hours, cover 2-4 miles and are open to all ages and skill levels.
