Neighborhood Coalition Meeting Held: Aug 8

The August 8th
Coalition of Gresham Neighborhood Associations meeting focused on gathering Neighborhood Association’s input for the new budget cycle. Nikki Peterson, Budget Division Manager explored ideas with the group on ways to increase citizen participation and input. If you'd like a speaker for your group on this subject you may contact Ms Peterson at City Hall (503) 618-2428.

Ms Peterson will be attending the Wilkes East Annual Meeting & Faire, Monday the 27th of August, 7:00PM at St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church, 17405 NE Glisan Street.

The Coalition received some grant monies for either boundary signs or sandwich boards for each active Neighborhood Association. It will be necessary to check your neighborhood for existing signs or replacements, and to determine where boundary signs might be placed.

Wilkes East reported the postcard mailings for their Annual Meeting went very smoothly, thanks to the assistance of Linda Kidby, Neighborhood Association Co-ordinator. (One meeting with Ms Kidby, a couple of emails, and the job was done.)

Concerns about “Big Box” stores were also discussed, and it was determined Codes were needed for this kind of project (The City apparently does not have any Code requirements in place at this time). A "presentation of need" before the City Council was recommended. Watch for more information.

The Coalition’s next meeting will be Wednesday, September 12th, 7:00PM in the Springwater Trail Room, Gresham City Hall, 1333 NW Eastman Parkway, Gresham, OR 97030. It is open to the public to attend. See you there.

Kris Freiermuth
