Urban Renewal Marks its Fifth Year

November 2008 marks the fifth year of the Rockwood-West Gresham Urban Renewal program. On November 20, 2008, the Gresham Redevelopment Commission looked back on its accomplishments to date as presented in the State of Renewal Report 2003 to 2008. Read more.

Urban Renewal Welcomes Henningsen Cold Storage to Gresham

On November 6, Rockwood-West Gresham Urban Renewal presented Henningsen Cold Storage Co. with a check for $100,000, under the Gresham Redevelopment Commission’s New Industries grant program. Henningsen recently completed construction on their new 144,000 square foot refrigerated warehouse and distribution facility in Rockwood on NE Halsey Street, bringing 16 new jobs to Gresham. Annual Holiday Construction Ban in Busy Retail Districts Starts Nov. 21

Beginning 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21 and continuing through 8 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, the City requires that travel lanes in all retail districts be kept clear and on-street parking be made available to the general public. Read more.

Gresham Transportation Projects Seek Your Public Comment

Two Gresham transportation projects are seeking federal funding through the Metro Transportation Improvement Program. A strong showing of folks advocating for the East County projects by submitting public comment now through December 1 impacts the final decision. Read more.

How to Set Out Garbage Cans, Carts and Bins

Recycling & Solid Waste asks citizens to help keep hauler costs down by setting out garbage and recyclables correctly on collection day. Containers with lid hinges should be set out facing the street, and containers should be spaced 3 feet apart. Read more.

Jenne Road Sewer Project Update

SE Jenne Road will remain closed between SE Foster Road and SE 174th Ave. until Dec. 19 during construction of the City's sewer project. The Springwater Trail is now open. Read more.

Stark Street Boulevard Transportation Project Open House, Rockwood

The City has incorporated comments from previous public meetings into a design plan now at the 50% level of completion for boulevard-style upgrades to Stark Street between 190th and 197th Avenues in Rockwood. City staff will discuss the project design and take comments at an open house from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at the Rockwood Community Office, 18709 SE Stark St. Read more.

Volunteers Needed for Outdoor Work Party at Kelly Creek

The Watershed Management Division is hosting a Kelly Creek restoration volunteer event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 22. Volunteers will help plant native shrubs and trees to improve water quality and wildlife habitat. Read more.
