Take a walk along Willamette Blvd and down the Waud Bluff trail to some interesting spots on Swan Island and the Willamette River.

Join us on another great Ten Toe Express walk throughout inner-city Portland sponsored by the Portland Bureau of Transportation. The Ten Toe Express program is a series of guided walks held Thursdays @ 6PM and Saturdays @ 9AM from May 10th through September 28th 2013.

Each easy and informal Ten Toe Express walk explores the area neighborhood, architecture and unique history. Walk takes about 2 hours, cover 2-4 miles and are open to all ages and skill levels. Did we mention it's free!

2014 Walk Details

1) The Grotto to Rocky Butte
Join a tour led by author Laura Foster through one of Portland’s most serene forested settings, climbing a nearby trail for a round trip to the historic Rocky Butte summit.
Dates: May 10 – 9AM, July 10 – 6PM
Meet: The Grotto parking lot, 8840 NE Skidmore
Distance: 4 miles or 8,000 steps
Time 2.5 hours

2) Historic Albina
Enjoy a walk led by the Architectural Heritage Center as we hear about the history and see the remnants of the City of Albina in inner N/NE Portland.
Dates: May 15 – 6PM June 28 – 9AM
Meet: Irving Park, NE 9th & Fremont
Distance: 3 miles
Time: 2 hours

3) Historic Sellwood
Enjoy a walk led by the Architectural Heritage Center as we hear about the history and see the sights in the Sellwood neighborhood of SE Portland.
Dates: May 31 – 9AM August 7 – 6PM
Meet: Pioneer Church 455 SE Spokane
Distance: 2.5 miles, 5,000 steps
Time: 2 hours

4) St John’s Waterfront
Enjoy a challenging and very scenic route through downtown St Johns, Cathedral Park and Willamette Cove.
Dates: June 5 – 6PM August 2 – 9AM
Distance: 4.5 miles
Time: 2 hours
Meet: N. Philadelphia & Lombard, Town Clock

5) Waud Bluff Trail to Swan Island
Take a walk along Willamette Blvd and down the Waud Bluff trail to some interesting spots on Swan Island and the Willamette River.
Dates: June 14 - 9 AM August 21- 6PM
Meet: Columbia Park Annex, N. Wllamette and Woosley

6) Powell Butte Trails
Hike around Powell Butte’s nature trails through forested areas and open meadows.
Dates: June 19 – 6PM July 19 – 9AM
Meet: Powell Butte Parking lot, off SE Powell and 162nd.
Distance: 4 miles or 8,000 steps
Time 2.5 hours

7) TRAM to Council Crest
Take a free Tram ride to OHSU and hike the trails of Marquam Nature Park as we climb to Council Crest Park and back.
Dates: July 24 – 6PM September 20 – 9AM
Meet: Tram station, north of SW Whitaker and River Parkway
Distance: 4 miles or 8,000 steps
Time 2.5 hours

8) Wallace Park to Macleay Park and Swifts
Hike the Lower Macleay and Wildwood trails, finishing in time to watch the Vaux Swifts at Wallace Park on September 11.
Dates: August 16 – 9AM September 11 – 6PM
Meet: Wallace Park , NW 25th and Raleigh
Distance: 3.0 miles or 6,000 steps
Time: 90 minutes
