Friends of Nadaka and it's community partners are working to secure funding to develop the approved Nelson Master Plan which includes a community garden area, orchard, rain garden, berry patches, naturescaping and more. When complete, the Nelson properry will join Nadaka Nature Park (adjacent directly north) as a unified neighborhood park.

Free Solar Workshop
Solar Gresham is hosting free solar workshops at the Gresham Public Library in historic downtown. Led by the nonprofit Solar Oregon, the workshops will cover the basic technology, benefits and cost of solar. Imagine Energy will be available to answer questions about installation and products. Umpqua Bank will also be on hand to share information on financing opportunities.

The workshops provide a great opportunity to learn more about solar, whether you’re interested in having it installed at your home or just wanting to learn more about this form of renewable energy.
Solar Gresham is a new program offered through July 31. It offers homeowners solar at up to 80% or more off the cost.

Wilkes East Neighborhood has received a Metro Nature in Neighborhood grant for improvements in Nadaka Nature Park which requires matching volunteer hours so your support is needed and greatly appreciated. See you at the park!

Clean-up info
Be prepared to get a little dirty and to have fun by supporting and volunteering with Friends of Nadaka and Wilkes East Neighborhood Association in their efforts to restore this natural area by removing invasive underbrush and ivy from Nadaka Nature Park, part of the Columbia Slough Watershed.

Rain or Shine! Come dressed for weather and help improve Nadaka Nature Park. Bring working gloves & a water bottle if you have them. Volunteer as long as you can. Coffee, juice, water & refreshments provided by Wilkes East Neighborhood.

The Southern Sky from Namibia
Join us as Mt Hood Community College Planetarium Director Pat Hanrahan shares stories and celestrial images from last summer's trip to Namibia in southern Africa. Near total darkness provided an opportunity to capture many incredible images from the seldom seen southern night sky.
All shows are presented under a realistic representation of the night sky, featuring the latest galactic, stellar and planetary images.
Visitors are encouraged to ask questions during each 45-minute program. Children are welcome to attend.

Parking Change
Parking permits are required and may be purchased for $3 at ticket kiosks located by the flagpoles (north parking) and gym (south parking). (Violators will be ticketed)

Opening Day Activities
Come enjoy the fabulous Gresham Farmers' Market on opening day and grab a special treat for Mother's Day. The City of Gresham will host a bicycle safety booth, where you can order a new bike helmet for just $5 and learn ways to bike safely in and around Gresham. There will also be a ribbon-cutting ceremony, free vendor gift basket drawing, live music, and a limited quantity of free helium balloons, market bags and window clings.

Join the Fun
Explore downtown Gresham by bike with guide Jeff Corcoran, a member of the Gresham Transportation Subcommittee. The free ride will be completed in two phases, starting at Main City Park with a two-mile loop around East Gresham Elementary and Dexter McCarty Middle School, then returning to the park. The second phase will feature an eight-mile loop using the Springwater Corridor and Gresham-Fairview Trail. Travel on Stark, then through downtown, and return to Main City Park.
Riders should meet at 9:45AM in the parking lot at Main City Park, near the Springwater Trail. The ride will leave at 10AM, and the second phase will return to the same location approximately two hours later.

Adult Fun!
This free ride will leave at 10AM from the Main City Park parking lot in downtown Gresham. This moderately paced ride, led by the Portland Wheelmen Touring Club, will explore the area between the Gresham, Troutdale and Sandy River areas, as well as east Portland. Traveling around 15 mph for approximately 25 miles, the group will stop for refreshments along the route. The ride will return to the starting location a couple of hours later.
