A community forum to provide information and a facilitated discussion about the process for locating wireless communications on utility poles in the public right-of-way.
This project\, which is on the Council Work Plan\, involves revising the Community Development Code to eliminate the regulation of wireless communication facilities located in the public right-of-way and permit it as an outright allowed use subject to obtaining a permit to use the right-of-way.

The Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) Career Planning and Counseling Center is hosting the sixth annual summer jobs and career fair in the College Center Fireplace Lounge at 26000 SE Stark St. in Gresham\, Thursday Feb 23\, 2012 from 10AM to 1PM.
The fair offers students and community members the opportunity to meet with employers who are hiring for great summer and seasonal positions\, as well as ongoing opportunities. Employers scheduled to attend include Timberline Lodge\, Clackamas County Parks\, Mt. Hood Aquatic Center\, Princess Tours\, Oregon Department of Forestry\, The Home Depot and KOIN 6 Television.

Discover Our Feathered Residents
Some of our most familiar birds are the permanent residents that we see in our yards and neighborhoods throughout the year. They are joined by some “winter visitors” and are easily seen at bird feeders during the cold months. These birds are easy to learn because you have excellent chances of seeing them repeatedly. This class will cover some bird feeding basics and identification of the most common birds seen in our yards in winter.

Mars and Venus at Their Best &\; Spring Sky Highlights
If you enjoy gazing at the night sky\, it’s a “planet-a-palooza” this spring at the Mt. Hood College (MHCC) Planetarium.
“Mars and Venus will be at their brightest this spring and all of the other classical planets can be easily found in the night sky\,” says Pat Hanrahan\, Planetarium director.
“It is a rare time that we can see so many of our planets in the same night sky\,” adds Hanrahan. “Even the shy planet Mercury will be visible shortly after sunset. In late spring\, we will see the rare Transit of Venus. If you miss this event\, you will have to wait another 105 years before it will be visible again.”
All shows are presented under a realistic representation of the night sky\, featuring the latest galactic\, stellar and planetary images.
Visitors are encouraged to ask questions during each 45-minute program. Children are welcome to attend.
Parking Change
Parking permits are required and may be purchased for $3 at ticket kiosks located by the flagpoles (north parking) and gym (south parking). (Violators will be ticketed)

Renewable Energy Community Forum
Join us on March 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Oregon Trail Room at City Hall for the Renewable Energy Community Forum. Come review and evaluate the preferred alternatives to renewable energy issues.

The Spring Weeds workshop will cover milk thistle\, bull thistle\, Scotch thistle\, yellow archangel\, shining geranium\, morning glory\, garlic mustard\, Russian knapweed and Tree of Heaven.

Help us fight off Gresham’s weedy invaders by participating as a Weed Watcher in our Early Detection\, Rapid Response Program. By familiarizing yourself with problem weeds in our area\, you can help us stop these plants in their tracks.
All you have to do is attend one (or all) of our free invasive weed ID classes and use your new plant ID skills to alert us to weeds in Gresham. With your help\, we can keep our city and homes weed free.

Metro regional government is offering two community forums\, March 13 &\; 14\, to learn about and participate in the East Metro Connections Plan.
Investing in Gresham and the East Metro area
Federal and state money is shrinking\, and when the region makes difficult decisions about who gets it\, they reward those cities that agree on near- and long-term priorities. Through an effort called East Metro Connections Plan\, Gresham and other east county cities are developing that shared agreement.
Metro will be advocating for federal and state transportation money to make our area more attractive to employers while protecting our neighborhoods\, making our roads safer and promoting our treasured natural areas.
Many of you have participated in this effort already. Your input helped identify problems and shaped the solutions Metro is considering. But your role isn’t over. Decisions will be made this spring about how investments will be prioritized. Metro want you to weigh in to tell them what is most important to you.
